Five tips for Black Friday shopping

As exciting as sales are, it’s easy to get caught up in the shopping frenzy! Before you know it, you have a full car of bargains, empty pockets and nothing crossed off your list.

Here are some tips to spend wisely on Friday:

  1. Write a list
And check it twice! It is a simple and helpful thing to do, yet very often put off. Having a list will not only help you avoid impulse purchases, but will also make sure you leave the mall with everything you need.
  2. It’s only a bargain if you needed it beforehand
I heard an economist on the Breakfast Show say this, and I think it is such a helpful tip. Just because something is cheap, doesn’t mean you should buy it. Otherwise you will end up spending a fortune on lots of cheap things you don’t need.
  3. Research
After writing a list, go online and check how much each product is at the moment. On Friday, you will have a clearer idea of how much of a discount the company is really giving you.
  4. Wait
If you find something on your list is not discounted at all, don’t buy it! It’s not Christmas just yet, so hold your horses and wait for the Christmas sales closer to the time. Try not to be too over-prepared just yet.
  5. Budget
Give yourself a budget and stick to it. Don’t spend every penny you earn in the heat of the moment (save some for Cyber Monday!).
